One of the best hut to hut tours in the Southern Alps. It only takes three days to tour this mythical summit, taking in 3841m of ascent. On beautifully varied terrain, climb up to passes over 3000m high, discover deeply coloured mountain lakes and walk through this amazing geologically diverse landscape.
From Italy, particularly the Po valley, the Viso represents a 3500m high rock wall that blocks out the horizon. In summer, the combination of wind, proximity to the sea, humidity and the temperature difference between the valley and the mountain, creates a stubborn mist (la nebbia) that enrobes the whole area by the end of the morning. 3 day itineraryDay 1: l'Echalp (1787 m) - Refuge Vallanta (2450 m)Walking time : 7 h Height gain : 600 m Day 2 : Refuge Vallanta (2450 m) - Refuge Sella ( 2640 m) Walking time : 5h30 Height gain : 900 m Day 3 : Refuge Sella ( 2640 m) - L'Echalp (1787 m) Walking time : 7h30 Height gain : 750 m 7 day itineraryDay 1: L'Echalp (1787 m) - Refuge Jervis (1850 m)Walking time : 5h Height gain : 1100 m Day 2 : Refuge Jervis (1850 m) - Refuge Granero (2377 m) Walking time : 5h Height gain : 1100 m Day 3 : Refuge Granero (2377 m) - Refuge du Viso (2460 m) Walking time : 5h Height gain : 1000 m Day 4 : Refuge du Viso (2460 m) - Refuge Quintino Sella (2640 m) Walking time : 5h30 Height gain : 900 m Day 5 : Refuge Quintino Sella (2640 m) - Refuge Vallanta (2450 m) Walking time : 6h Height gain : 1270 m Day 6 : Refuge Vallanta (2450 m) - L'Echalp (1787 m) Walking time : 5h Height gain : 500 m |
