Saint-Véran, the highest village of Europe

saint-veran hiver

The highest commune in Europe (2040m) offers pleasant surroundings and a chance to recharge your batteries in an authentic and protected environment. Come and make the most of its exceptional natural and cultural landscapes.
Pass through the doors of the ‘Vieille Maison Traditionnelle’ (Traditional Old House) and the ‘Le Soum’ museum and experience life in the Saint-Véran of the past.
Look carefully and in every small street you will find a sundial lighting up the village’s daily life, momentarily catching the suns rays and marking the passage of time. There are no less than 20 sundials, most of them created by the Piedmont producer Zarbula and restored by Rémi Potey, combining art, science and symbolism.

The church has a porch with lions at the base of the columns and a preserved 17th century font. Around the church unique wooden fountains, symbols of the life of the community in years gone by, and crosses from the passion of Christ blend in with the remarkable architectural landscape.

At every bend in the road a new treasure awaits you…
