The park set to work an innovative scheme for economic development as well as social and cultural respect for the environment. It allows the inhabitants to live and work in the countryside; it responds to the challenges of the environment and creates employment....

The Queyras and its 8 villages The Queyras situated in the 'Hautes Alpes' is a secret jewel of the Southern Alps. The Queyras is a preserved area that profits from abundant sunshine making it a stunning as well as vast playing field on which one can ski, hike, have fun, dream, wander from one village to the next...... Abriès, Aiguilles, Arvieux, Ceillac, Château Ville Vieille, Molines en Queyras, Ristolas, Saint-Véran.
The Cols : Agnel and Izoard
The mythical Queyras mountain passes
The Col Agnel and the Col Izoard The Col Agnel (altitude 2744m) and the Col Izoard (altitude 2361m) are two high mountain passes, the latter being on the 'Grande Route des Alpes', (made famous by Alexander the great and Napoleon). From the top of the Col Agnel you have breathtaking views of the beautiful Mont-Viso, the Varaita valley and the village of Chianale in Italy. The Col Izoard is a stunning vantage point over the Briancon valley, the Ecrins, the Font-Sancte and the Ubaye Massif.

The Queyras cultural heritage The Queyras cultural heritage is a rich and unique legacy. To visit its eight mountain villages is to soak up its charms: its history, its sun dials, Fort Queyras, its geological features like the 'Demoiselles Coiffées' and its religious heritage. There are many places to explore on foot such as the Pisse waterfall at Ceillac or the centuries old larch and Cembran pine forests. You will immediately appreciate the charms of all these venues.

Local arts, crafts and produce During the long Queyras winters, the men and women would spend a lot of time indoors perfecting their crafts. For the men this was usually in furniture craft, decorating the wood with the traditional carved rosettes and for the women, fine lace-work.
